Removable Partial Denture

A partial denture is a removable dental appliance that replaces multiple missing teeth. It can be attached to the teeth with clasps or it can be attached to the teeth with precision attachments (hidden clasps).  Both types have a metal framework, normally plastic teeth, and pink acrylic in the gum areas. A removable partial denture made of flexible acrylic material can also be used for patients with metal allergies or those with high smile lines.

Full Denture

With full dentures, a pink-colored acrylic base fits over the gums. The base of the upper denture covers the palate (the roof of the mouth), while that of the lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to accommodate the tongue.  Full dentures are made when a patient is edentulous (no teeth remaining in their mouth).
